Reflection 5: Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better—Trying a Traditionally Oppsite Sex Activity

Sometimes, trying something new can be jarring, especially if it's an activity not usually done by someone like you. For this reflection, you will participate in an activity “traditionally” considered to be associated with the opposite sex. For example, a woman might choose to engage in a video gaming session, or a man might spend some time at a spa. Of course, just what a truly feminine or masculine activity is depends on who you ask. Therefore, how these activities are viewed will vary greatly; there is no right or wrong. Still, you are encouraged to expand your boundaries and challenge your preconceived notions about a particular activity. The goal is to spend some time in the opposite sex's shoes (so to speak) so that we might better understand their perspective and better empathize with their situation.

Directions: 

1. Spend at least one hour engaged in the activity traditionally associated with the opposite sex—the choice of activity is yours
2. Record the evidence of you activity through a photo or photos
3. Email reflection and photo(s) to me
